Dubai- United Arab Emirates, November 1st, 2020: Excellence in Oncology Care – EIOC, the largest annual meeting that caters to the continuous medical education for healthcare professionals in the field of cancer treatment was successfully concluded last week in Dubai, UAE.
The 3-day virtual meeting included a rich agenda that consisted of 9 tracks, specifically put together to deliver the maximum value to all attendees. The tracks included an average of 30 sessions, delivered by world-renowned international, regional, and local speakers, such as Prof. Solange Peter, President of ESMO (European Society of Medical Oncology), Prof. Stephen R D Johnston, MA, FRCP, Ph.D., Professor of Breast Cancer Medicine & Head of Medical Oncology, Consultant Medical Oncologist & Head of The
Breast Unit, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust & The Institute of Cancer Research, Prof. Brad Somer, MD, MBA, Medical Oncology, President, West Clinic, USA, among many others.
The event was organized by INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions, a member of INDEX Holding, and was held from 15-17 October 2020, with the support of Dubai Health Authority and Ministry of Health and Prevention, and in collaboration with the Arab School of Urology.
Commenting on EIOC, Dr. Shaheenah Dawood, Chairperson, Consultant Medical Oncologist, and Associate Professor in Clinical Oncology in the United Arab Emirates said: “EIOC successfully ran over 12 parallel meetings on various Oncology sub-specialties, covering some of the latest and most pressing advancements in medical science and care, through sessions delivered by over 200 speakers from USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Spain, Russia, France, Portugal, India, Pakistan, Philippines, KSA, South Korea, Lebanon, Taiwan, Ireland, Poland, Brazil, Malaysia, Canada and many more including regional countries such as KSA, Lebanon, Egypt, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, and UAE. The key opinion leaders contributed more than 32 hours of streaming over the course of the three-day meeting.”
Recent updates from world congresses, such as ESMO and ASCO, were highlighted during EIOC which was attended by more than 4,800 attendees from more than 45 countries. Many leading cancer centers participated actively and contributed towards the success of this world-class event, including Mediclinic Hospital, GICC, Apollo Proton Center- India, Tata Memorial Cancer Center- India, Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital- Pakistan, Asian Cancer Institute, and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, among others. The meeting was also supported by various regional and international societies from the USA, India, Pakistan, Philippines, Iran, and Iraq to name a few, to enhance medical practices.
EIOC 2020 was held in conjunction with another virtual meeting by the International Federation of Head & Neck Oncologic Societies (IFHNOS), which has membership societies from over 65 countries. Furthermore, a number of the world’s most acclaimed Head & Neck Oncologists were part of the meeting.
Under the exceptional circumstances of this year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the meeting was held virtually and attendance was made free for healthcare professionals, in order to achieve maximum value and help them enhance and elevate their knowledge and education in the field of cancer, with CME points provided by MOHAP.
